It’s finally autumn in Czechia. I don’t know about you, but I appreciate this gorgeous season in Prague.
I have found a variety of spots in Prague (and outside) that I especially enjoy as the temperature gets chillier. These spots can be enjoyed anytime of the year, but with the falling leaves and cozier clothing it is especially lovely. This guide is for exploring Czechia before it gets too cold and dark! I hope you enjoy these spots as much as I do.
Kutná Hora

Kutná Hora is one of my favorite Czech cities. It is approximately 1 hour from Prague by train, perfect for a day trip! The city is a part of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites due to its architecture which is visible as soon as you start exploring. The town is rich with history as one of the oldest Czech cities and had once a booming mining industry. The town is filled with beautiful churches, delicious Czech food, and an ossuary (if you’re interested in bones). Most of the tourist sites require tickets but offer ISIC discounts.

I recommend this city as a day trip in autumn as there are less tourists and the surrounding forest is so beautiful. I visited the city for the first time in October 2025 and was so impressed with all the things to see. I truly cannot recommend this city enough!
Stromovka Park

Stromovka is one of my favorite parks in Prague. It is in the Bubeneč district in Prague. In the 13th century it was a game reserve and was eventually converted into a public park in the 19th century. Surrounding the park is the Vltava River, a Planetarium, and exhibition grounds. The exhibition grounds have an event nearly every week and sometimes they take place in the park. The park consists of ponds, bridges, and a variety of trees (there’s even maps of the different trees around the park). It is a perfect recommendation for a brisk autumn stroll or finding a new interesting activity on the exhibition grounds.
Rychnov nad Kněžnou

Rychnov nad Kněžnou is a gorgeous city in the region of Hradec Králové. The city is relatively small but with a variety of historical landmarks. It is approximately 3 hours away from Prague by train but 2 hours by car, perfect for a weekend getaway. The city can be explored in a day, but the city contains a variety of museums and a beautiful theatre. These require tickets but they offer ISIC discounts. The surrounding cities are also worth exploring if you’re already in the area. I highly recommend this city.
Cukrárna Alchymista

This café is my favorite study spot in Prague during autumn. It is in Letná, Prague 7 and closest to the Sparta tram stop. Its big windows allow you to look into the courtyard and your coffee may even have a cat companion! The cats are owned by the owners of the café and are super friendly. The cakes and coffee are delicious; they also offer some interesting non-coffee options. I would not recommend this to someone with intense cat allergies, but it really is a special spot. The café also has some birds that serve as some background noise.
Happy Pops Café

This café is the most perfect breakfast spot in Prague. It is in Dejvice, Prague 6 nearby the tram stop Zelená. I absolutely love their breakfast plates and treat myself to one at least once a month. This spot is perfect year-round, but I find it especially cozy during autumn with their autumn flavors of their specialty... cake pops! The cake pops are super yummy and popular amongst kids (and adults). I love spending my slow weekends studying here first thing in the morning. They do host some activities for kids, so some days are louder than others. Nonetheless, the breakfast is worth the noise!
Botanical Garden of the Faculty of Science, Charles University

Another outdoor recommendation for autumn is the botanical gardens of Charles University. It has its own tram stop called Botanická zahrada and is in Prague 2. This is such a fun botanical garden to go to with a variety of different biomes exhibited. They also have the sweetest (and loudest) birds. I spent my 21st birthday exploring the garden and I loved it. If you enjoy strolling outside in autumn this is the place for you. It also has an indoor area with desert and tropical plants. It requires tickets to visit the inside, but I believe it is worth it. The garden also has exhibitions and sometimes you can purchase plants you see! After your visit you can enjoy a hot beverage in Kaldi fresh coffee bar across the street.
Botanical Garden of the City Prague

My last recommendation is another botanical garden, shocker! I love visiting gardens and this one is HUGE. I didn’t even see everything in the garden in a day. The garden consists of so many exhibitions, one of my favorites being the Japanese Garden. This month they have an exhibition called Plant Odyssey and it explores the history of plant evolution. It ends in December, so I recommend going before it’s gone! They offer ISIC discounts for tickets and if you love it, you can get an annual pass. I think botanical gardens are a great way to spend time outside exploring and seeing the forest exhibition in autumn is so special. They also have indoor areas with subtropical and tropical plants with butterflies!
I hope you find some inspiration for autumn activities from my list. There truly is so much to do in Czechia and so many places to explore. These are just some of so many spots to explore this autumn. So, get out there and explore before it gets too cold!
