Dog and Cat Diseases

The Lifelong learning programme - Clinical Education of the First Degree for the Field of Diseases of Dogs and Cats is governed by Act No. 166/1999 Coll., on veterinary care and on the amendment of related laws (veterinary act), Decree No. 331/2021 Coll., on the organization of education for veterinarians operating in clinical veterinary medicine, Act No. 111/1998 Coll., on universities and on the amendment and addition of other laws (the Act on Universities), as amended, the Statute of the Veterinary University of Brno, the Rules of Lifelong Education of the Veterinary University of Brno and the Provision Rules the quality of educational, creative and related activities and the internal evaluation of the quality of educational, creative and related activities of the Brno Veterinary University.

The Lifelong learning programme - Clinical Education of the First Degree for the Field of Diseases of Dogs and Cats is organized as an optional education for veterinarians working in clinical veterinary medicine, which is intended to deepen the level of knowledge of veterinarians in clinical veterinary medicine. Teaching is provided by experts from the university conducting an accredited master's degree programme in the field of veterinary medicine or veterinary hygiene, the State Veterinary Administration, private veterinarians and other experts for the relevant issue. On the part of the Veterinary University of Brno, the lifelong learning programme is under the control of the Council for Internal Evaluation, at the level of lifelong learning programmes under the control of the Council for Lifelong Education, and at the level of the programmes under the control of the guarantor of the lifelong learning program and clinical education.

Clinical Education of the First Degree for the Field of Diseases of Dogs and Cats is followed by the programme of Clinical Education of the Second Degree for the Field of Diseases of Dogs and the Field of Diseases of Cats, representing a higher degree of difficulty of the level of specialized knowledge, experience and skills.
The aim of the first-degree clinical education in the field of diseases of dogs and cats is to deepen the education at the level of practical knowledge, experience and skills with a focus on clinical veterinary issues in the field, following undergraduate education with obtaining the qualification of a veterinarian and following 3 years of experience in the field of diseases of dogs and cats.
