This doctoral study programme focuses on independent scientific research in molecular physiology, genetics and biotechnology of plants. It develops advanced understanding of molecular processes, genetic regulation and physiological mechanisms influencing plant growth, development and adaptation. Emphasis is placed on experimental research, use of modern biotechnological methods and application of molecular knowledge in agriculture, plant breeding and plant protection. The programme supports interdisciplinary research and active international cooperation.

As a graduate, you are prepared for research and academic careers at universities and research institutions or for expert positions in biotechnology, plant breeding and agricultural research organisations. You may work as research scientists, biotechnologists or specialists in genetic and biotechnological applications in plant production and environmental sustainability.
Doctoral studies are generally provided without tuition fees and are associated with doctoral stipends. Full‑time Ph.D. students receive a doctoral study income, the minimum level of which is set by legal regulations and currently amounts to approximately CZK 25,000 per month; in practice, it may be higher depending on involvement in research projects, publication activity, and other academic duties.
