Are you interested in a combination of theoretical and practical training in the field of health and social care? In that case, the Bachelor’s study programme Health and Social Care is tailor-made for you. In the first of the two areas, healthcare, you will gain knowledge from clinical and preclinical subjects such as anatomy, nursing care and geriatrics. In the second area, social care, you will become familiar with issues of law, social policy and, in particular, social work in healthcare and social services. You will learn to understand legislation, assess and address clients’ complex social situations, and provide crisis intervention and social counselling. Through practical training, you will become familiar with various target groups in health and social work, where you will be able to try out methods and techniques of work in practice.

Graduates find employment in public and private healthcare facilities, for example in hospitals or psychiatric hospitals, in the position of health and social care worker. They may also work in non-profit, charitable and educational institutions, or in the field of social services as social workers in social care and counselling and prevention services. Other employment opportunities include hospice facilities, where they may work in the position of health and social care worker. Graduates may also find employment in offices and institutions dealing with social agendas, for example in the field of social and legal protection of children, social work, guardianship or pension security, namely at municipal authorities, municipal offices, regional authorities, labour offices, or district social security administrations.
