University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice - Faculty of Science
The PhD study programme Applied Physics is focused on the training of qualified staff, with advanced physical education, who can solve a wide range of problems on the border of scientific and technical practice. Students can choose their own specialization in the field of experimental physics and computer modeling and simulation. The areas of dissertations are profiled according to experimental laboratories, research groups and currently solved projects. In this way, experimental physics can focus on the narrower areas of deposition of functional nanostructures and active layers, low-temperature plasma physics, laser and nonlinear optics, or advanced audio signal processing. Computer modeling groups focus on simulations of interactions between molecules and surfaces using molecular dynamics, processes in solar physics using magnetohydrodynamic equations, simulations of models in solid continuum mechanics using the finite element method or advanced modeling of charge motion in material structures. The student can choose a specific specialization and supervisor based on their own discretion, scientific interest.
Graduates will acquire use knowledge from a wide range of physics with potential of their application in praxis, design, perform and process advanced experimental research and development, use physical principles in praxis with ability of their application in praxis, use the mathematical apparatus a modelling for solution of practical problems. Graduate destinations include researcher in development and research workplaces of companies and state organizations, researcher In laboratories of academic sphere.
