Biotechnology is a dynamically developing field. Due to its breadth, importance, and rapid progress, high demands are placed on research infrastructure, intellectual capacity, and the level of theoretical and professional preparedness of personnel working in biotechnological operations. The follow-up master’s degree programme in Agricultural Biotechnology is a direct continuation of the bachelor’s degree programme in Agricultural Biotechnology offered at the Faculty of Agriculture and Technology of the University of South Bohemia. During their studies, You acquire advanced knowledge in molecular biology, genomics, genetic engineering, and plant, animal, and food microbiology. Through elective courses, they further specialise in areas such as advanced genetics and the breeding of plants and animals, as well as biotechnological methods used in breeding. Students also gain skills in biostatistics and bioinformatics. The programme places emphasis on improving language competencies, and students have the opportunity to complete internships abroad. Graduates are prepared for academic careers, practical work in biotechnological operations, research activities in molecular biology and biotechnology, and for doctoral studies aimed at further development of their research skills.

For follow-up Master’s programmes, provide proof of proper completion of a Bachelor’s programme. If you are in the final year of your Bachelor’s programme, submit an officially certified copy of your diploma as a PDF from authorised conversion – Czech POINT no later than the end of June. FZT USB Bachelor’s graduates do not submit proof of completed higher education. FZT USB graduates whose chosen follow-up Master’s programme directly builds on their completed Bachelor’s programme are admitted without an entrance examination. Other applicants take an entrance examination unless the Dean of FZT USB decides otherwise. Entrance examinations for follow-up Master’s programmes are written.

Graduates of the follow-up master’s degree programme in Agricultural Biotechnology possess advanced theoretical and practical knowledge in molecular biology, genomics, genetic engineering, and plant, animal, and food microbiology. They are familiar with specialised genetics and breeding methods of plants and animals and are proficient in biotechnological techniques used in these fields. They also have strong skills in biostatistics and bioinformatics, enabling them to analyse data and solve complex research problems. Graduates are capable of both independent and teamwork in research and applied practice, and they are able to analyse scientific problems and propose innovative solutions. Thanks to their language proficiency and international experience gained through internships abroad, they are well prepared to work in an international environment. They find employment in research institutions, biotechnology companies, laboratories, and applied sectors, and they are also prepared to continue their studies in doctoral programmes.
