Would you like to focus on the study of contemporary societies? Thid two-year Master’s degree programme is designed for students of the Bachelor’s degree programmes in sociology, social and cultural anthropology, humanities, or political science. Students develop theoretical knowledge of modern societies, and focus on the development of methodological skills. Students become familiar with the synthesis of sociological theories and different methodological approaches.

Study

You deepen the knowledge they gained in the Bachelor’s degree programme. They are able to define the subjects of sociology and explain important sociological terms and theories, and are familiar with the contribution of important sociologists. They master various sociological methods, and can clearly formulate their own research topic, as well as sociological questions and hypotheses. Students expand their knowledge regarding data collection and analysis. You learn how to work with Czech and English sociological texts. After graduation, you can find employment in institutions focused on market research, public opinion surveys, marketing, or advertising. They can also work in companies which monitor the quality of services, or in the media. After graduation, you can find employment in state and non-governmental organizations, particularly in those dealing with social development, social problems and the provision of social services. They are ready to work in project management within the European Union, or provide consulting services. After graduation, you can continue your studies in the follow-up doctoral study programme.
